China’s State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) has said that Nvidia violated Chinese antitrust laws by failing to comply with conditions set when it acquired Mellanox Technologies in 2020. The initial approval of that acquisition included certain requirements, and Chinese regulators say the company did not meet them. ([Reuters][1])

The announcement comes as tensions between the U.S. and China rise, especially over technology, trade, and semiconductor export controls. It was made during U.S.–China trade talks held in Madrid, and could lead to fines or other regulatory actions. Nvidia has said it abides by all laws and is cooperating with authorities.
